Topic: Live Trades different than in FSB

The live-trades of my strategy with FST, do differ to what FSB shows. My strategy runs on 1-Minute Data. Here is an example of a live trade, compared to what FSB shows after loading the same data into it after the live-trade happened with the same strategy:

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

I don't  think FST is ready for real trading see my post here: http://forexsb.com/forum/topic/1494/str … positions/
there is a huge difference between what you see in FSB and is being executed by FST.  sad

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

I've had no issues (other than my own) with FST so far.

The biggest question for Fxwinner is the strategy used during live trading, do you mind posting?  If using intrabar closing parameters during test be very thorough with scanner and comparator before going live.

Right now I only have confidence in FST trades with bar closing/opening (and previous bar trades)

I just noticed from this post's screenshots, that Bar Opening is used for opening logic.  Make sure your indicator is using previous bar data and not current bar, or your backtests will appear to be the holy grail.

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

Thanks dmm301, hopefully you can bring some light on this issue.
it is pity that FSB limited by closing bars, maybe Popov can recode so we can use tick data.
I can volunteer to export tick data from Dukascopy if Popov recode FSB, in this case trading results of FSB and FST will be almost identical and we don't need to strangle with all this pain.
I'm attaching following files:

1. Stratagy_gbpusd_M30_01_KC&BB.xml
2. Positions_gbpusd_positions.xls
3. Data_GBPUSD30.csv
4. Stratagy overview.html
5. Equity Curve.png
Let me post somewhere the zip file, as I cannot attach it here.

Mr Popov, can you kindly provide an example of FSB strategy (doesn't matter winning or losing ) which does  exactly the same on FSB and FST?
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

I think as soon as Popov code FSB on tick data, it would be the best ever tool made!!
See some comparison. in testing here:

looks like this topic name makes more sense to everyone, thanks to geektrader.
if you don't mind I move my findings to here:
I moved my topic from this page:

Strategy Builder opens trades based on "OPEN BAR",
However when I imported strategy to Strategy trader it opens positions based on tick data.
Which obviously not right as all back testing was performed on M30 Bars, to oppose to the tick data.
I'm running 3 instances as you can see from the picture.

How, I can resolve this issues, and trade only OPEN-BAR, instead of TICK?
##
I'm running side by side Strategy Tester and Trader, and I can see despondency in the trading.
Trader opened position which is not listed in strategy tester.

It is strange it opens positions not on next bar OPEN, as in  strategy it is clearly stated.

Any one has real experience trading FSB strategies?
The idea is great, I have been waiting for almost a year! Thanks Miroslav, but sill needs some work done.
##
Did you notice how FSB opened Short at 9:00 and 14:00 and closed it with small lose/profit at the same minute, looking at the price it is the same price, there should be no profit and secondly bars closes at x:29 or x:59 not at x:00 or x:30
strategy closing logic is "BAR Closing" and then indicators conditions.
Does not seem to be right. Even it if closes at the same price it needs to pay Spread.
I'm not talking about spread size is 10 times less as it configured.

if we can fix this bugs I would gladly trade, I waited one year to get Trader created. might wait another one till its bug free, I can put all my efforts to fixing it (or pointing to bugs, sorry I'm not a coder)

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

No, I do not mind, let´s bring together things about this topic in this thread.

Though I have to say that while 2 trades were (a little bit) different, I have now had 5 more trades and they all were on spot with FSB, even down to the pip for the entry-price. Though remember my strategy is a 1-Minute strategy and I noticed the higher the time-frame you use in FSB is, the more different the live-trades in FST will be. At least for my 1-minute strategy, live-trades do match in 85% of the cases it seems. For my 5-minute strategy that number decreases already. So I guess the higher the time-frame the strategy uses, the lower the accuracy is for the simulation in FSB and the live-trades in FST.

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

Spot on! I have tick data from Dukascopy , if FSB can read that we don't need to go anywhere, and search anything, as FSB/FST idea is the best!!! Mr Popov are you reading this???!!! Can  you please come in... and share your thoughts? may be some one can send PM/email to him just to notify. Thx.

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

Fxwinner,

Are you using the same strategy as in your zip files for live demo?

A couple things I noticed about your strategy....when using current bar and not previous bar data for opening a position with an indicator, chances are very high in real trading the indicator values are going to repaint themselves.  I noticed your values for Keltner are very low and highly volatile, this is most likely causing more trades than in FSB.  This is the reason Popov defaulted the indicator to use previous bar data.

I'm not sure using tick data in FSB is going to resolve your issue.  The logic for backtesting and scanning, IMO, is not up to par with metatrader.   For some reason FSB backtesting scanner does not pick up these errors in our strategies and I've posted these same concerns more than a handful of times on this forum.

I can guarantee tons of people just discovering FSB think they've found the holy grail because of FSB's backtesting limitations and find out later their strategies are dirt.   I hate to be so brash, but take the Fibonacci indicator for example....put a reverse exit position and you'll see unbelievable results (with comparator and intrabar), however you'll never see these results in live trading because fibo will repaint itself.   Code and test the same strategy in metrader and results are painfully different.

Bottom line, if for some reason you come across an amazing strategy in FSB that has 99% win rate and a perfect equity curve, check your strategy for errors.   It's impossible to create a perfect equity curve...you haven't found the holy grail.   I can't tell you how many times this has happened to me with this application, especially with HTF indicator (not from Popov).  Double check, then triple check, sleep on it, look at it again, then sleep on it again, and then you'll realize what's wrong with the strategy.  Sorry for the rant...haha

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

Dmm301,
many thanks for your fundamental reply.
1. Yes, the strategy in the archive it is the same what I have tried to use on life, unfortunately the results as you said completely different.
2. yes long time ago when Fibonacci, was still in FSB I tested it life adding manual trades and what I found that after i entered long, position changed to short in next few bars, after seeing that I abandoned FSB project for more then 6 months, and now discovered FST, thought i give it another try.
3. I did not give a deep thought to in creating my strategy, just was playing and see what it can do. i will it another shoot. Would be interesting to know if any one created strategy which has the same results FSB=FST(live). if any one has please post your feedback, as I have not read it yet on this forum. and i read most of the topics, majority just reporting bugs, and no positive feedback from real trading results. :-(
4. When I come a X good strategy, it will be recoded in MQL or Jforex for further back testing, I found FST is not stable enough to put real money, I saw multiple disconnections with no reason. I doubt FST is capable staying on-line for weeks. I think this is the best topic name, thx to geektrader.

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

I have to say that I had 3 more trades yesterday and they all matched exactly to what FSB was reporting after feeding it with the data afterwards. I think it has to do with that I use 1-minute Data and hence the FSB backtest seems to be correct since it has not to guess much about intrabar like on 5-minute or bigger time-frames.

Try yourself and create a strategy on 1-minute bars and trade it, I guess you will also see that in this case FSB is pretty accurate.

Though of course that is not really good because not everyone wants to trade on 1-minute bars and has strategies using higher timeframes. That should be addressed so that not only 1-minute strategies are accurate.

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

Thanks geektrader and footon for your input, I think I have an idea how to resolve this issue.
If Mr. Popov can add custom time frame for instruments, we can use data of 10seconds bar, as the matter of fact we do trade ticks not even 1 minute bars, this is complicity different approach, compare to MT4, as MT4 indicators attached to specific TF, but here in FSB you can adjust time frame in indicator itself (i know, it doesn't make sense if you read it only once , lol) , technically you can trade any time frame from tick data, in this case 10 sec TF (this won't be a big lug), just calculate MA taking into account that it is not 15M,30M, but 10Sec (multiple x-times, parameters).

Surely, it should be some adjustments made to accommodate this kind of accuracy, but if we do that, we are not limited by only last bar close.

there are some more sugestions, but I am not sure if MR. Popov, is willing to progress with this feedback.

1. Miti threading.
2. Cross validation

And a lot more.... Don't want to spend time if it is not taking into account.

I'll post strategy here , let's see if you think this will be FSB=FST. Much appreciated your feedback.

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

Thank you footon,
I don't seems to have delays on execution as it is DEMO, however nowadays, there is huge competition between brokers, and they are moving to ECN instead of DD, thus delay is not a problem.
The issue currently to make FST trade the same way as it is on FSB, and I believe it is limitation of FSB as it  cannot do inter-bar calculations.
If Mr. Popov is not going to improve the platform I don't think it is worth my time. there are some products out there which can do better job without lagging.

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

Hey Guys, I hope you had a nice weekend? Straight when the market opened my 1-minute strategy generated another live-trade. Afterwards I loaded the data into FSB to see if it would have taken the same trade in the backtest. And once again, it did, and the entry-price in FSB / FST does match down to the PIP exactly! (On a 5-digit broker)!

So I think I have to change the topic soon to "FST generates exact same trades as in FSB on 1-minute time-frame - that is great!" smile

I though hope you get your strategies to execute live so well too. Try the 1-minute time-frame guys.

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

geektrader, it is a good news, but don't forget it is only one strategy and probably you still calculate on close, thus this top is still relevant, and will be till Popov changes calculation and we can trade intrabar strategies.

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

Hey guys, my strategy opened position and it is exactly pip to pip the same as on FSB=FST=MT4.
well it is only the first one see yourself.

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

Footon and dmm301, can you also provide some comparison? would we encouraging to see it we are on the right path to victory!

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

I was too quick to jump to conclusion, it was only one and by the looks the last trade which has the same parameters, when more trades came they were even opposite, will post results on weekends. as need to see a few trading days. for opening I do use Previous Bar Closing. so it should be not excuse for FST not to trade  the same way as FSB.
##
Footon, how is your live results , are they correlated to the FSB ones?

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

Hi Guys, I am really sorry to hear you are still having wrong trades. I wanted to give an update: 5 trades have happened since my last post  and what can I say, there were ALL correct in time and entry-prices (just normal slippage of +-1 pips). Just to summarize it again: my strategy runs on 1-minute TF and has 19 Indicators for opening logic and 5 for closing logic. Given that there are so many indicators involved, I can only say that FST handles the trades really well in live-mode and they DO match up to what FSB shows me after feeding it with the new data. So the problem you are having seems to "only" happen with time-frames higher than 1 minute. I really still would like to see if you guys are trading a 1-minute TF strategy, if your results do match up so exactly like mine do. Can you give it a shot?

Also, for 1-minute bars I didn´t experience the problem with the chart not updating, although I HAVE CHANGED the minimum data bars to 4000. All works fine.

Re: Live Trades different than in FSB

hey, geektrader, thanks for heads up. I'm happy that we keep together this way we can find solutions even though Popov disapparated. I'm glad that your strategy works, however I don't understand how you manage to add 19 indicators if the maximum only 5, did you change the config.xml file?

I use all defaults, but cannot reach the same results, yes I moved to M1 TF, but still not having any luck with execution. Please find my trading results below, I will also post strategy. can you please start hosting your results it can be encouragement, as I'm kinda strangling to stay with FSB/T., the concept is brilliant but it is not finished yet, and long way to go, if Popov not coming only, prolly need to find a good C++ coder to code the platform.
