Topic: [Solved] FST disconnected

hi!
I just installed new version of FST (first time). I copied dll file and expert file but in FST i have still 'not connected'. In MT4 its ok 'FST is connected'.
When I click Help I see: library, expert vesrion: unknown.
Can you help me?

Try the following: In FST click on tools in the menu bar at the top and then click "Install Meta Trader Files" Close down MT4 first.

From today I have a problem with the MT4-FST file in the library. It allways give me a server-error -1 on the MT4 platform. I tried to reinstall true the tools option of FST but this does not help. I tried it on several MT4 platforms and it just doesnot want to work. What should I do now???
Can you help with this?

Oh yeah, In the MT4 platform in the upper left corner the error message is the following : MT4-FST Library Server Error: -1.

Ron,

As suggested by Popov, what does the MT4 journal say (are there any errors listed)?

Also, I am assuming that you have a smiley face in the top right corner of the MT4 chart window, or do you have some EA settings set incorrectly?

Hi,
All my MT4sa are in a Documents folder, not in C:/program files. I have manually put the expert & .dll filoes in their respective folders, and started the MT4 but it still tells me 'Not connected'. This is a snip from the MT4 journal
2013.08.21 18:28:16    '161550': Signal - not found update signal - 12385 in base
2013.08.21 18:25:24    Expert MT4-FST Expert GBPCAD,H1: loaded successfully

It seems FST doesn't know where the MT4 is.

Hi aysamatik,

Thanks for that. FST installed itself into C:/programs, not C:/programs x86, so which C++ version should I download? It gives me downloads for:- x86, arm & x64

I have a 64 bit machine, if that is relevant, and my FST is v3.2

It knows where to install,dont worry.
If your system 64 bit,you should download 64 and download arm and install

Hi aysamatik,
I ran x64 (arm was not recognised), opened up the MT4 and FST, but FST still says not conected. Is there anything else I should do to make them speak with each other?

Does it matter that FST is installed in C;/program files and my MT4 is in a Documents folder?

If it doesnt give an error message,its ok.The problem is solved.
Open the trader and connect.
Open the tools menu,check allow multiple connection. My english is not good enough to explain all the steps. You may look here for next.

Thanks for your help, but FST is still not connected - both FST and the MT4 chart message tell me this. There is not 'allow multiple connection' in the tools menu; it says 'allow multiple working copies of FST'.

FST I still think FST can't find the MT4. Usually when I 'install a MT4 related s/w it ask me for the folder where my MT4 is stored, but not this time.

Anyone else able to troubleshoot this please?

I am having similar problems with my MT4 telling me it's connected, but FST telling me it isn't.

1. Which folder should FST be installed into? All my MT4s are installed in a Documents folder, not in C;/program files.

I know "it should work", but it doesn't!

I did as you suggested, selected multiple copies of FST, both the EA and FST have their ID as 100, but while the MT4 says they are connected, the FST still says 'not connected'.

I installed FST in C:/programs files this time, but still nothing.

Should a strategy be loaded and running before these will connect?

also, I can't open the EA up to change parameters, even if I right click on the smiley face and select 'Properties'. I can only remove and add it to a chart.

This is most frustrating!

Remove ea in mt4,press f3 and remove all there,then reinstall ea. this may solve your problem.if it is not,you should ask an expert someone.

I am having the same problem. On the MT4 platform it says it is disconnected.
I do have the smiley face.
I have removed the global variable before restarting the EA.
The journal reads that EA has started successfully.
The FST reads Not Connected.
I am running Windows 8 and the MT4 Platform is Version 4 Build 509.
