Can you have a custom indicator and use the generator to build around this indicator or does the generator make Rand selections in this process

The program treats the built-in and the custom indicators in the same way. The Generator may include any of the indicators in a strategy.
If you want a particular indicator with concrete logical rules, you can set it in the Editor. Then you can "lock" the indicator slot in the Generator and it will generate a strategy with it.
