Dear users,

There are some important bug fixed in the new FSB v2.50.1.0 Beta version. It also adds new features as Logical Groups for the strategy indicators and improved generator.

One new option you may not find at first glance is a history list of the generated strategies. You can load precious or next strategy by using the fast keys Ctrl + H and Ctrl + J. They work from the main FSB window. The historical list is populated even if you do not accept the generated strategy. The Optimizer also puts each more profitable strategy in this list.


The full change log is:

Forex Strategy Builder v2.50.1.0 (Jun 15, 2010)

    * Fixed back testing bug with scanner where the back-tester shows stright, rising balance line when TP is near to the entry price.
    * Keltner Channel can be based on Close price only. The other options for the base price were removed. (Thanks to Lorenz Vauck)
    * Fibonacci indicator was removed from the indicator list.
    * Logical groups added. Can be activated from Strategy menu. The logic is OR between groups and AND in a group. Indicators assigned to "All" group participate in each group.;
    * Changeable number of slots from "Strategy" menu;
    * Indicators can show a warning message in the Indicator Dialog. Example - Trailing Stop
    * Generator:
          o Generating a new strategy or a more profitable strategy;
          o Generator saves all better strategies in a history list. Called from the main menu Edit -> Previous Generated Strategy, Next Generated strategy. Fast keys Ctrl - H (H from History) and Crl - J
          o Maximum number of trades;
          o Maximum drawdown as percent of the current equity;
          o Maximum Win / Loss trades ratio;
          o Generator saves its options in the config file;
    * Directional Indicators and ADX can be based on Close price only, which is it's usual calculation method. "Use previous bar value" parameter fixed.
    * Many other smaller changes.

FST cannot use logical groups yet. Pleas use this FSB version for tests only.

The first thing I noticed is in the "Accounts Statistics" panel.
Win/loss ratio is always 0,00

Win / Loss Ratio was corrected.


Here are the new exe files. Two options are available. One compiled with .NET V2.0 and one with .NET V3.5. You have to download the file and to extract it in the folder of FSB v2.50.1.0.

NET 2.0 -> FSB_2.50.1.1_Beta_Exe.zip
NET 3.5 -> FSB_2.50.1.1_Beta_Exe_NET_3.5.zip

Thank you for your quick feedback smile This new version with .NET 3.5 Framework's is working faster when I generate new strategy. Please could you support .NET 3.5 further for new upcoming versions of FSB and FST.

Please could you support .NET 3.5 further for new upcoming versions of FSB and FST.

This version of FSB must fix false backtests where the balance line looks like this:

If you see such backtest, it's probably 99.99% false. Please send the strategy for analysis. These bugs are extremely important and must be fixed immediately.

I will download and test beta, at least I can help in small way in this nice project!

OK, so here are the problems with NET 3.5 versions
When starting I got two errors:

Then after using generator and accepting the strategy I got the following:

and long text in this window.
If I click continue it still doesn't close the generator window.
If I click close it will close the whole program.

I will try other NET version.

The same problems with NET 2.0 version.
What I did wrong?


And an idea for the Generator options: could you please make it so it will remember last settings? It is tiring to always change the same settings again and again...

First download FSB v2.50.1.0 Beta. Extract the archive.
After that download FSB v2.50.1.1 and extract the exe  file. Replace the exe from the first download with the second.

The error messages from the language file are because the new version contains new phrases. It seams you use old language file. You can easily repair it. Open:
Tools -> Additional -> Command Console

I the command console write: repairlang

In 10 seconds you'll see a confirmation that the language files were repaired. That means that the new phrases are inserted in the file. You have to restart FSB.

Thanks, now is working OK.

I found that default lot size in EUR USD is 20 000. Shouldn't it be 100 000? or 10 000?

Will these beta strategies work with old FST?

All must work except "Logical Groups". But be careful.

I noticed bug with Optimizer in this beta:
Optimized strategy has worse results after optimization than during optimization and worse than beginning optimization.
Maybe there is a problem with custom indicator?

OR and AND options.
Could you explain it with one or two examples?

Popov, attached you find a strategy (for 5-digit broker!) with a pretty straight equity line, but it doesn´t perform like that when traded live, so I guess that´s the bug with backtesting you meant.

Also you might have a look of the strategies posted in this post: http://forexsb.com/forum/topic/1568/first-day-27-gain-strategies-attached/  While they do work well for acharyadas in live-trading (have  a look at this live-account-statement), they trade a lot more often live then they do in the FSB backtesting, which also needs to be fixed I guess.

Additionally I would like to ask when we are going to see multi-threading in FSB? I am having a 8 core CPU, and only 1 core is being used when generating/optimizing strategies, which is a pitty, since other trading-software (like Multicharts) does use all 8 cores.

Problem with data loading sometimes when changing the currency pair:

Yes, it must be 10 000 by default.
