Topic: Magic number and Strategy ID

Hello,

I'm using Portfolio to evaluate strategies generated by EA Studio.

How can I found (in EA Studio) the strategy that created trades based on the magic number found in metatrader history ?

Thanks for your support,

Didier

Re: Magic number and Strategy ID

Hello Didier,

EA studio performs backtest on historical data and calculates the corresponding stats.
If you want to explore the trade results, you have to use other trade result analysis software. There are several online services available and also some locally executed in form of EAs.

Please check also the Steve's MT4 tracker posted here in the forum.

Re: Magic number and Strategy ID

Hello,

Thanks for your quick reply...

I don't want to explore trader result, I'l like to know wich strategy is best performing within the Portfolio...

By using the magic number in MT4, I can find easly the best strategy, but I don't have any reference to the strategy ID as used in EA Studio.

Here's the details of I'dd like to do :

1. Generate a portfolio of strategies
2. Run the Portfolio EA in MT4
3. Find the best performing strategy in MT4 (by using magic number)
4. Back to EA Studio, and get details about this strategy (and create a EA)

Thanks again for your help

Didier

I'm trying to do the same thing.

Re: Magic number and Strategy ID

is that not the easiest way to add a comment when ea open or closed a trade

Re: Magic number and Strategy ID

The Strategy ID is temporal. It is unique only for the current session with EA Studio, but they are re-used with the time. The reason for that is very simple - EA Studio can create so many strategies that, if we keep them with unique IDs it will overload the browser storage. Also the ID numbers will not be usable at all.

Imagine we have already have generated and stored somewhere several billion strategies. When the Generator finds a new one, it must check the complete store for a duplication before setting an unique ID. You may think it will work, but in teh reality, it will be so slow that you will switch it off after the first week.
