Topic: Data Horizon Limits

Hello,

I'm new to Forex Strategy Builder and I just started a trial to see if it fits my needs.
I've got a question.
When testing a strategy, I see that the maximum amount of data bars that can be loaded is 50,000.
If I want to test my strategy using M1 bars, the horizon is thus limited to approx 35 days worth of data.
I guess if I want to test the strategy on a longer horizon I need to change to M5/M15/M30 but that changes the logic quite a lot for the strategy that I'd like to test. But still I'd like to understand if I'm approaching the problem from the right angle.
Is there any way to increase that limit?
Or have you got any advice on what it makes more sense doing?

Thanks!

Re: Data Horizon Limits

There is a way of increasing the limits. Please see this post: http://forexsb.com/forum/post/28209/#p28209

Re: Data Horizon Limits

Hi Popov,

Thanks much for the swift reply wink
And the program looks really good so far. Congrats.
Knowing that the time horizon is not a limitation, I hope I can make good use of it.

If you don't mind me asking another silly question.

I mainly trade indices CFDs and I'm struggling setting up the correct details for JPN225.

These are the product details from my broker:

Minimum size 1 Contract(s)
Contract size per pip USD 5
One pip means 1 Index Point
Value of one pip USD 5 (GBP 3.53)
Margin 0.75%
Minimum stop distance 30
Min guaranteed stop distance 60
Slippage factor 50.0%
Spread without stop loss: 8
Spread with stop loss: 16

When I set up the new symbol, can you please let me know what the details for this index should be set to?

Thanks!

Lorenzo

Re: Data Horizon Limits

Hello Lorenzo,

You have to experiment with the settings because these are not standard forex rules. See this example:

I'm  note sure that this will be close enough from the first try, but you'll have more info when you start the simulation.

You can set FSB to open 1 lot and to compare the results with the ones you have from your platform.

Re: Data Horizon Limits

Understood!

Thanks for showing me this example and I'll follow your advice and cross check the journal.

I wish you a lovely weekend.

Lorenzo
