Topic: Using Tick Data with FSBPro, Should i use JForex OR TickStory?

Hii there!,
How should i use Tick Data with FSBPro, Should i use JForex OR TickStory to download and import the tick data with?
im using another software that have the same logic like FSBPro and using TickStory to import the tick data to it,
im not that familiar with FSBPro so i would like to know better about that subject,
Thanks, Peace..!

BTW: i wanted to ask, i can download EURUSD tick data from TickStory from 05.05.2003, thats the most far date i can get, but i heard they only have data from 2007, O_o
so what should i do?, is the data from 2003~2007 is bad?,
should i only load data from 2007~today?

You can import data from jForex:

http://forexsb.com/wiki/fsbpro_guide/jforex_import_help
http://forexsb.com/wiki/fsbpro_guide/jforex_import

However, the best data you can use are from your MetaTrader terminal.

Ok,
done that, but when i opened JForex i see that i cannot change the time of the data..., unlike TickStory..

can i just use TickStory to get tick data insted of JForex?, i saw that there is a section in there that called import as ForexSB CSV file, soooo....., can i just use TickStory that way to import tick data into FSBPro?....

thanks..!

*EDIT!:
I think i might found a way to do so,
when i was about to download Tick data from TickStory by selecting the ForexSB Bar format,
i found out that there is no propper format to export the tick data..

so what i did was checking how the JForex export they tick data and how FSBPro can read it from that file
this is how i've done it:

>> When downloading data from TickStory select ForexSB Bar format
>> Select Tick
>> Choose Custom
>> Set at the 1st row(Header): Time,Ask,Bid,AskVolume,BidVolume
>> Set at the 2nd row: {Timestamp:yyyy.MM.dd} {Timestamp:HH:mm:ss.fff},{AskPrice},{BidPrice},{AskVolume},{BidVolume}

just copy and paste those lines into the TickStory lines smile, thats it now you can download Tick data from TickStory with setting your TimeZone and other stuff..

easy..!, correct me if im wrong though, im gonna try it, it should work, it is just like JForex.

Re: Using Tick Data with FSBPro, Should i use JForex OR TickStory?

EDIT!: i did managed to get the .bin file after the conversion by FSBPro JForex tab,
plus i did added a new Data Source + Symbol, but the file is EURUSD0.bin
and the FSBPro cannot find it for some reason..., please help me with that!..., thanks...

Re: Using Tick Data with FSBPro, Should i use JForex OR TickStory?

FSB uses tick data only for precising a bar interpolation if the other periods do not help.

FSB needs also M1 data that correspond to the available tick data. You can see the bars covered by ticks on the Intrabars stats page: http://forexsb.com/wiki/fsbpro_guide/intrabar_stats

Ohh i see,
Thank you for your quick replay Mr. Popov!

so let me get it strait,
i have have that Tick data file that i have downloaded thru TickStory and then with FSBPro generated a EURUSD0.bin file thru the JForex Import tab,
so now i only need to download the M1,M5,M15,M30,H1,H4,DAILY datas thru TickStory also and then import them thru the MT4 HST Import tab,

Overall i need that EURUSD0.bin file to be in the same data source folder with the other M1,M5,M15,M30,H1,H4,DAILY files right?, but the question is if i import the HST datas for M1,M5,M15,M30,H1,H4,DAILY it becomes .CSV files after i use the MT4 HST Import tab, but the Tick data file is .BIN would it be a problem that all the other files are .CSV and only the tick file is .BIN?...

im trying to understand how FSBPro is reading it all and how to get it done propperly so that i wont have any problem in the future.., i hope you understand.., data is the main thing in our biz smile

thanks again for your time sir!

Re: Using Tick Data with FSBPro, Should i use JForex OR TickStory?

You can export CSV files directly from TickStory and you don't need a further conversion. All data files are in CSV format except the Tick data (.bin). We use a special compression to the tick files and store them in bin format in order to make them smaller and faster for use.

You can see more info for the CSV format here: Data Files

Re: Using Tick Data with FSBPro, Should i use JForex OR TickStory?

Thanks i understand,
but can i rather then downloading the CSV files one by one for M1 then M5 and M15 afterwords and etc..
to just download all the M1,M5,M15,M30,H1,H4,DAILY all at ones by importing it as HST & FXT files to MT4 already and then just convert the HST files (which was created by that TickStory MT4 import) by using the FSBPro MT4 HST Import tab?
that would save time because when you use TickStory to import HST & FXT files directly to MT4 it will import all the timeframes at ones, rather then download the CSV files one by one..

i hope you understand.., let me know if its gonna work the same as you proposed with the CSV files without any conversion.., thank you.

Re: Using Tick Data with FSBPro, Should i use JForex OR TickStory?

Yes, you can use the import method you prefer, however, the most safe way to test strategies is to use data form the Meta Trader terminal you are going to use later for trading.
