Topic: Instrument Editor

in the editor there are three groups '' Forex , CFD , Index '' But what about other products like Stocks ,Futures and metals  '' Are these product grouped under one of the main groups or need to be added to instrument editor

Re: Instrument Editor

These groups do not affect the program. Choose CFD or index.
The Forex group sets requirements for symbol name and main and base currency.
Other two groups use a base currency equal to your account.

Re: Instrument Editor

those are futures, will be difficult to get enough data to backtest those

My 'secret' goal is to push EA Studio until I can net 3000 pips per day....

i noticed that all futures have no enough history!!!  why is that

Re: Instrument Editor

futures usually trade for only a limited period of time and then change their expiry date, you will have to look for 'continuous ' contracts and try to get good data for those.

Re: Instrument Editor

Another Question regarding to silver and gold   we consider them forex or CFD !!!!

Re: Instrument Editor

Have a look at eoddata, they sell data for the futures, it is excellent data

Re: Instrument Editor

Use Forex where you have two currencies in the symbol name.
Examples: USDCHF, EURJPY...
Forex symbol consists of 6 capital letters.
For the Forex category you trade first three chars of the symbol name against the second three chars. In EURUSD, you trade EUR against USD.

For all other instruments use CFD or Index.
There is no name format limitations for these groups.
You trade Indexes and CFD against your account currency.

Re: Instrument Editor

So only pure currency pairs are currencies FOREX , Other instruments whatever they are CFDs or INDxs can interchangeably used  '' what matter is the instrument properties  Right !!!!

And if this is right so we can use the CME currencies futures as CFD or index and adjust the properties as forex pairs   Right !!!

Re: Instrument Editor

Request 1 : could we have extended instrument column shows the spread, slippage and swap beside the instrument name

Request 2 : could we have a saved instrument profiles each one for different broker and it cannot be overrides when installing updates  its painful when try testing different data  i have to work with instrument every time from start   It will save lots of time

Request 3 : its related to importing data  could you make the import mt4 hist function remember both the directory and destination folders '' as a drop list per each , it will save time when shifting between different folders containing price data
