Topic: Shift

Please explain how to use the "Shift" function when opening a position. Thank you.

Re: Shift

What do you mean with "Shift" function?
Do you speak about the shift parameter as for MA?

Re: Shift

When I use the Donchian Channel as my entry and exit points, there is a box called "Shift" which lets me enter a number. I don't know how to utilize this function. Thanks

Re: Shift

It moves the Donchian channel chart whit the selected number of bars to the future.
When the Shift = 0 FSB uses the current indicator value, if Shift=1 it uses the previous bar value to calculate the signal for the current bar.
Shift = 5 means that FSB moves the chart 5 bars to the future and to the current bar arrives the ind. value from the fifth bar before the current.
It is very easy noticeable on the chart. Set donchian channel with period of 1 and see that it shows the current high/low. By increasing  the shift (keep the period = 1) and you will see how the chart is moving ahead.

That is the principle for all the indicators with parameter shift.
