Topic: Why Can We Only Go Long with Starc Bands?

From what I understand, Starc Bands are used somewhat like Bollinger Bands. You can use them to signal a long position entry when price hits the lower band and a short position entry when price hits the upper band.

I notice that with FSB you can only go long with the Starc Bands. The options are: "Enter long at the Lower Band" and "Enter short at the Lower Band". I wonder if this is intentional or if it is somethinig that needs fixing. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks,

Max

Re: Why Can We Only Go Long with Starc Bands?

That is very strange!!!

The Entry Points logic options are:
"Enter long at the Upper Band",
"Enter long at the Lower Band"

The Opening Logic Conditions are:
"The bar opens below the Upper Band",
"The bar opens above the Upper Band",
"The bar opens below the Lower Band",
"The bar opens above the Lower Band",
"The position opens below the Upper Band",
"The position opens above the Upper Band",
"The position opens below the Lower Band",
"The position opens above the Lower Band",
"The bar opens below the Upper Band after opening above it",
"The bar opens above the Upper Band after opening below it",
"The bar opens below the Lower Band after opening above it",
"The bar opens above the Lower Band after opening below it",

Exit Points:

"Exit long at the Upper Band",
"Exit long at the Lower Band"

Closing Logic conditions:
"The bar closes below the Upper Band",
"The bar closes above the Upper Band",
"The bar closes below the Lower Band",
"The bar closes above the Lower Band"

Can you check again?

Re: Why Can We Only Go Long with Starc Bands?

I think you can use this indicator in both terms. Actually Iā€™d like to know which indicator is only useful in short or just in long. I thought every indicator was useful in both terms and it depends just from our experience and interpret skills,

Re: Why Can We Only Go Long with Starc Bands?

There is an entry filter named "Long or Short"

[Opening Logic Condition]
Long or Short
     Open long positions only

It allows long entry only or short entry only, depending of the logic.
It is useful to find an eventual asymmetry of the strategy.

Several years ago I used a trend following system to trade USDCHF. It was profitable  but only for the long positions. I was surprised of that because the strategy was symmetric. Actually in that time the trend was rising. That was the reason smile.
