If it doesn't use a take profit or stop loss or just one and not the other? I tested some in a demo account they did come out profitable but they use close and not stops or take profits. I did have a loss with one that was profitable and the loss was almost double my gain with the strategy. Should I only use strategies that have stops?

Your strategy is what you are comfortable with after you test it repeatedly.
