I think that these indicators are safe to use ?

I have also experienced that custom indicators - especially HTF indicators will show overoptimistic results never reachable in backtest, thefore I do not reccomend using these indicators at all.

That might be right. Best not to use those indicators until they have been tested and fixed for bugs.
That is too bad. The backtest showed great results with these indicators, but in realtime with FST they did not work propperly. Is it possible to see the errors in FSB in a logfile somewhere?

Now we have clarification..... best to not be using those indicators at all...

I suggest that you adjust the parameters of the single time frame indicator (use two copies), by having one in the tester for the 15 and another with adjusted numbers for the 240 minute.

I stress that the thing be run in the tester until you are sure you have a viable strategy as it could be a waste of time to use the trader without doing so. I am sure that someone will look at the HTF indicators at some time and ensure that they are functio0ning correctly, in the meantime I would stay away from those

I did make a HTF macd setup and tested it with less than good results, actually the single TF indicators do a good job on their own

HTF indicators are not fully tested and finished. They are developed by Zuijaideai, but I do not see him recently in the forum. There are some problems with HTF indicators: incorrect calculations of "Use previous bar value" parameter and also some times the indicators crash during calculations. For that reason I included special error handling in the Generator of the newest FSB versions, which reports the problem and continues generating strategies. However, that error check lowers the speed of the program a little bit.

What I want to tell you is to be careful when using third party indicators. They may produce false backtest. The problem is the same as in the third party experts or custom indicators for MT.

I guess you have seen the posts by fxwinner that there is going to be a lot of discussion re strategies next month..... I am sure that any deficiencies in indicators will show up at that time as people start to analyze strartegies and indicators

Blaiserboy, the HTF is the Higher Time Frame version of the indicator. You can download those indicators here:

If you try the HTF version of Ichimoku Kinko Hyo the Chikou Span does not reach the last bar. I think it is therefore the Chikou Span value it "-" and buy signals are not provided in Forex Strategy Trader.
If someone could program the indicator to extend the Chikou Span line to the last bar, maybe this would solve the problem with the indicator?

Much better now. Thanks. I like that the image is small and then when someone wants to see it in full, he can click and see the full image. this doesn't clatter the page.

I would have to recreate the situation............ so that I can actually locate the problem, I will attempt to do that

I am not sure what you are meaning by HTF etc, how do I set that up

and most important........ did you attempt to use this strategy in the tester which would show you where you may find errors.

I opened the ichimoku strategy in the tester....... and located an entry with the chikou span lower than the price...... and at that point there is a value for the chikou span.

So I am thinking that you have to look carefully at the strategy to see if your entry should be triggered.

I am attaching two charts, one for a long and one for a short. each has values for the chikou and permission for long or short.

From a preliminary view...... the strategy needs some adjustment as the entries would not be what I would prefer.... I do not know how you set up the HTF, I just loaded the thing into the tester , as is, to make sure that the indicator is functioning properly

Hi Blaiserboy, at the right side of the chart are all the information that are read from the indicators for the last bar listed. I have set the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo indicator to allow a long entry when the The Chikou Span is above the closing price.

Below is a realtime FST. Here you see that the Chikou Span is not registered. It is marked with a "-".

And here is the info about the bar (marked by the crosshair) half a day ago where the green line was drawn. (The green line is the Chikou Span). Here you see that the Chikou Span is registered by the FST and a long entry allowed.

I think that the problem is that it is only the last bar, and indicators at the last bar, that are being read by FST and therefore the Chikou Span that is the green line that does not reach the last bar not taken into consideration when the signals are given.

Maybe it the green line could be extended to the last bar it could solve this problem?
