Hi,
I set up a simple strategy for GBPUSD 5 minute, using Bar Range and MACD. If the Bar Range rises, and the MACD crosses the signal line upward, then enter long -- provided happens between 18:00 - 21:00 EST. Then, exit is based on hitting stop = 20, or hitting limit = 70.

What I cannot figure out is -- looking at the Balance/Equity chart, I can see that this strategy works for a week or two very reliably, then fails for a week or two very reliably. (I'll try to post a screenshot of the chart below after posting message and strategy.)

Any ideas / comments / suggestions in how to figure out when it works and when it doesn't? I've tried looking at larger time frame charts, but nothing seems to strike me as the answer. It would be great if there were some way to only trade for the times when it works, then mostly avoid the times when it does not work.

Hello there. I've been trading the forex for a while now, and I have recently discovered FSB. I think this is a pretty useful strategy tester, but it lacks one major function: the possibility to export strategies and custom indicators (.cs) to MQL 4 language to be used with the Metatrader 4 platform.

I'm just starting to learn MQL4 language, and I'm convinced I could save myself a lot of precious coding and testing time on MQL4 if I had the possibility of testing multiple strategies in FSB and then only export the most promising ones as a coding baseline for a MT4 EA or custom indicator.

Since both languages used in FSB and MQL4 are C based, I was wondering if it could be done manually somehow.

I searched the mql4 forums and I found a thread about this in the Russian postings, but only a few of them were in English.

Any light on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

ThanX

For an example: you can plot 1 week time frame of Accelerator Oscillator indicator on 1 day time frame chart or 1 hour time frame of William Percentage indicator on 5 minute time frame chart. So this indicator is very useful if you are going to build multi time frame or multi period strategy.

First you have to select chart's time frame data, and then apply the HTF indicators and set the higher time frame reference as shown on the picture above. Primary option for HTF indicator are:
- Plot full HTF bar checkbox: which allow you to choose full bar data simulation or intra bar data.
- Use previous bar value: which allow you to choose previous bar value or latest bar value. As special note here: if you select the full bar data then previous bar value is a previous bar on the higher time frame, and if you select the intra bar data then previous bar value is previous bar on the chart's time frame.

Attached are the HTF Indicator Ver 3.0.0 which contains 39 original indicators such as: Accelerator Oscillator, William Percentage Range, CCI, ADX etc.

Rgds
Denny Imanuel
imanuel.denny@gmail.com
