Forex Strategy Trader - Overview
Forex Strategy Trader is a free trading platform working via Meta Trader system. It can automatically send and execute trading orders based on a predefined strategy. The visual interface allows users to create their own strategies in a few clicks without worrying about programming and coding the logic. All the components of a strategy can be easily found in the user-friendly menus and can save hours for anyone who has previously tried to create his own Expert Advisor in MT and found it overwhelmingly difficult.
The usual strategy consists of technical indicators and the rules for their interpretation by the program. All the possible rules and combinations are accessible through drop down menus and after the strategy is set all you need to do is connect to the Meta Trader terminal and click "Start Execution". As long as you are online the software will follow the logic and trade automatically. Even the novice traders will find it easy to create trading strategies in minutes and those who are more advanced and know the dealings of Expert Advisor building, can save a lot of hassle and formula writing.
The software allows users to import strategies from our back tester - Forex Strategy Builder, and even download other users' strategies form the forum or our internet site. Some of the advanced tweaks you can apply to your strategy include: setting the amount being traded as lot size or as percent of your total account; adding to, removing from or reversing a position; stop loss and take profit values; and even setting a precise time for making deals (say 10 a.m.). The possibilities are innumerable as Forex Strategy Trader has more than 100 indicators in store and tons of logical options for each of them. Moreover, advanced traders from around the world compute new indicators regularly and upload them on the site or in the forum making them available for everyone.
The software also includes a lot of demo strategies with thorough explanation aimed to provide basic knowledge and example for users before they start playing around with the indicators and start building their own systems. There is also a ton of helpful resources and tutorials on the web site and in the forum so you'll never be left "in the dark". The program is totally free to use and distribute. I am running the newest versions of FSB & FST. My lot size in FSB is 10,000 but FSB or MT4 is trading 100,000. Where can I change this?
If you could email me, I would appreciate it.
You can change the lot size in FSB individually for each instrument. To do so go to Market - Edit Instruments menu in FSB.
The lot size in FST comes from the broker. You cannot change it.

When i have attached the Expert to the Chart and opened the FST .. THe EA on the Top left in MT is showing as "MT4 FST disconnected from FST" .. How can i get this Connected.. In FST also it's showing as disconnected..
There must be a reason for that. Please see the recommendation written just below the chart name in MetaTrader.
Possible reasons:
- the expert is already running on another chart,
- you are not logged in MT,
- there is no enough bars in the MT's chart,
- DLL or experts are forbidden,
If you see a warning that the expert is running on another chart, but you are sure it isn't, open the global variables window in MT (F3) and delete "MT4-FST Expert ID = X".

Hello,
I have downloaded FSB and FST. and generated a Strategy.. When i'm starting my MT4 its showing an Error message on Top left corner as " Expert already running on another Chart"
Please provide a solution for this..

- First check all the open charts for the expert. If it runs on a chart, remove it. Remove also the expert from the chart that shows this error message. MT doesn't provide a function for detaching experts programmatically so you have to do this manually.
- If the expert isn't attached to any of the MT's charts and it continues showing "Expert is running on another chart", open the global variables menu of MT (F3) and delete the variable MT4-FST Expert ID - 0
i connected my fst to my mt4,but it hasn't opened any positions yet.can this automate my trades even when i am offline?
The program must run and receive market data in order to calculate trades and send signals. This is possible only when your computer is on, you are online and metatrader is running.
why Forex Strategy Trader cannot run in window vista
Awie, the program runs perfectly in Vista. If you have any troubles, open a thread in the forum and describe what exactly happens. I'm sure we'll find a solution.
Hi Popov, I noticed that open trades are not staying open when adding lots to a winning position.
The current version of the expert doesn't control adding to a position effectively.
An improved version is almost ready and we are going to publish it during the weekend.
New features:
- controlling multiple positions.
- ability to work on different charts simultaneously.
- error check of the trading operations.
- separation of it's positions by a magic number.
- late setting of SL and TP for some brokers like FXCM.
